The beauty of Northern California is incredibly diverse!

I love the Northern California Bay Area!  You can be at the beach running in the sand by the Pacific Ocean, drive a few hours east for skiing in the Sierras or grab a Cable Car ride in the beautiful city of San Francisco. Earlier this week I had a late morning aerial photo shoot over Carmel by the Sea and then later in the day an architectural photo shoot in downtown San Francisco.  The two photos below show a bit of the diverse landscape that surrounds us. Pebble Beach Golf Course from the air including the famous 7th tee and a slice of architectural detail found in the San Francisco Financial District.

Moonrise over the Bay Bridge

I was on the 24th floor balcony of a building in San Francisco shooting a twilight photo of another building when I noticed the moonrise over the Bay Bridge. I hadn’t paid attention to what phase the moon was in, but was pleasantly surprised to see the moon come up over the east foothills, directly behind the bridge. After shooing a few more wide angle shots of my building, I switched to my 70-200mm lens to get a few more shots of the moonrise before darkness set in. Here’s one of the shots I was able to take.

The San Francisco Giants World Series Parade of Champions!

What an amazing season for the San Francisco Giants. Truly a dream season. I’ve been a Giants fan for over 20 years and have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly over the years as Giants tried year after year to win it all. This was their year, and they did it with great pitching and great defense.  When I found out about the parade I decided I would make some calls to see if I could get on to a roof of a building near Civic Center Plaza to get some shots of the event.  I had no idea it was going to be as big of an event as it was. They say there were over a million people and I believe it! There were people everywhere. I eventually was able to weasel my way on top of  my target building. What a perfect day, temperatures in the high 70′s, blue sky, and lots of Orange and Black. Here are a few of the shots that I had taken, even a shot of Aubrey Huff showing his “Rally Thong”! Thank you to the Giants for winning their first World Series Championship in San Francisco. All images on this site © Jeff Peters  Vantage Point Photography Inc. Halloween Costumes and Kids!!

The “Halloween Girls” is one of my all time favorite images taken several years ago. Vantage Point Photography was working on a calendar project for the City of San Jose Department of Housing to highlight all of the great Affordable Housing developments that were being built in San Jose at that time. I was trying to create an image for the month of October and a Halloween theme seemed appropriate.  Poco Way was the name of the Housing Development in San Jose that was chosen for the location. I had contacted the parents of the 3 girls to get permission and model releases to photograph them for the calendar project. I had decided to do an informal editorial portrait of the 3 girls in costume and decided to shoot it at twilight to approximate the look of when kids actually go out to “Trick or Treat”. The day before the shoot I picked up the costumes and props but was trying to figure out how to light up the girls at the twilght evening time of day. While shopping I found a pumpkin light that would work perfectly to provide the lighting I needed. The girls were so excited to put on the costumes and you can tell from the photo that they are the best of friends. The emotion and friendship in their eyes is really what makes the photo! At the end of the shoot I told the girls that they could keep the costumes. You would have thought I had just given them a million dollars! They all ran home to show their families. Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that are the most rewarding!
